Traffic fines skyrocket 20 times after passing of 2019 Motor Vehicle Amendment bill

The new 2019 Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill has been passed in the parliament. It was given the nod by the Rajya Sabha to amend the provisions under the 1988 Motor Vehicles Act, and the same bill was passed by the Lok Sabha earlier this month. However, the penalties now imposed have been revised up to 20 times as drunk driving, driving without a license, disobedience of rules fines have soared from the earlier prices.
