TikTok Creators face US Penalties of $5.7 million regarding child privacy violations

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has fined the creators of TikTok (aka Musical.ly) $5.7 million allegedly for doing too little to respect kids privacy & violating COPPA in its lip-syncing videos. TikTok collected under 13 users private information without their parents' consent & published them publicly. It has been asked to remove all videos created by kids below 13. TikTok is releasing an online safety video series for young users.
