In the 1st visit to Amethi after coming to power in 2014, PM Modi announces that the latest modernised AK-47 assault rifle, AK-203, will be manufactured in Korwa area of Amethi in a joint-venture of India and Russia. The deal includes manufacturing of 750,000 assault rifles which will replace existing India-made INSAS assault rifles in the Army, Air Force and Navy. PM also slammed the opposition for demanding air strike proof.
