Shaktikanta Das named new RBI governor

Former finance secretary Shaktikanta Das named new RBI governor a day after Urjit Patel resigned from his post of RBI governor on account of personal reasons. He becomes RBI's 3rd governor in 3 years. Das is currently serving as a member of the Finance Commission of India, and the government’s representative at the Group of 20 summits. He served as economic affairs secretary from 2015 to 2017.
