Several activists detained as authorities start cutting trees in Aarey at midnight

After the Bombay HC rejected all the petitions opposing the cutting of Aarey, the authorities started cutting the trees on Friday midnight. This action was opposed by the resentful Aarey activists and they tried to stop the cutting of trees. The police detained some of the activists and stopped others from entering the area. "What is the hurry that they are cutting down trees in the middle of the night," a protester said.
