Sikkim has set an example for other nations by becoming India’s first fully organic state and winning top prize in a UN-backed award on Friday. Organizers said that Sikkim's policies helped nearly 66,000 farmers and boosted tourism. In 2016, Sikkim was declared as the fully organic state by saying bye to chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Earlier the award was given for fighting desertification and nuclear weapons.
