RBI slashes repo rate by 25 bps to 5.15% to bring it to lowest since March 2010

The six-member Monetary Policy Committee(MPC) of the RBI decided to cut the repo rate by 25 basic points to 5.15%. The decision was taken during RBI's 4th bi-monthly policy review on Friday. The repo rate is now at its lowest since March 2010 and the decision also affected the domestic stock market as the BSE Sensex traded 66 points higher. This is the 5th consecutive rate cut by the Shaktikanta Das-led panel.
