PM Modi inaugurates inland port in Varanasi on Ganga River

On Monday, PM Modi inaugurated an inland port in Varanasi on Ganga River. It is a part of the centre's drive to develop inland waterways. The project was revealed after PM received India's 1st container vessel which sailed from Kolkata on the inland waterway on Oct 30. The container was having the cargo of PepsiCo India. The idea of Jal Marg Vikas project is to promote inland waterways as a cheap means of transportation.
