Lt Gen Manoj Naravane appointed Army vice chief, likely in contention for chief of Army

Eastern Army Commander Lt General Manoj Mukund Naravane has been appointed the next vice-chief of the force and is in contention to for chief of Army staff as General Rawat will retire on December 31. Naravane succeeds Lt Gen Anbu who retires on August 31 and is likely to be next in line for the top job in December. Naravane has served in numerous command and staff appointments in peace, a field in his 37-year career.
