IIT Madras has made India's first ever indigenous microprocessor which can soon power up your mobile phones, surveillance cameras and smart meters. Named as 'Shakti' it is designed, developed and booted by IITians with a microchip fabricated in the Semi-Conductor Laboratory of ISRO at Chandigarh. This invention will reduce dependency on imported microchips and the risk of cyber attacks.
