India records highest-ever rainfall since 1994 as monsoon season ends

For the first time since 1994, India recorded the highest rainfall this monsoon with the IMD classifying it 'above normal' as the season officially ended. However, in several parts, monsoon is still active with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) saying it could be the longest recorded delayed withdrawal of rain-bearing winds. The rain picked up pace in July and ended with 33% more rainfall than normal.
