The director of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), V Ramgopal Rao has supported the decision of increasing the course fee for Master of Technology (MTech). Rao said that the step is a "surgical strike" on "uninterested students." Rao added that the drop-out rate in the MTech program has been more than 50% in the last few years. The IIT council has increased the fee for MTech by 10 times to ~10 lakhs annually.
