Historic mission to the far side of the moon launched by China

In a historic moment, China has launched the first mission to land a robotic craft on the far side of the Moon. The mission is underway as Chang'e 4 is expected to make first landing on the lunar far side in early January if everything goes by plan. Called Chang’e-4, the mission will help to deliver samples of Moon rock and soil to Earth. Chang'e 4 spacecraft takes off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 1:23 p.m. EST.
