Govt bans J&K separatists group 'Jamaat-i-Islami'

The Ministry of Home Affairs passed an order stating that the central government is of the opinion that JeI is in close contact with the militants & supports extremism & militancy in J&K. So, the government has imposed a ban on Jamaat-i-Islami (JeI) as 'unlawful associationn' under Section 3 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. JeI is found to indulge in activities that are prejudicial to internal security.
