Giving verdict on SC/ST, the SC said states don’t have to collect data on backwardness

On Wednesday, the SC has given verdicts on Aadhaar issue, pleas against the appointment of Ranjan Gogoi, live-streaming of court proceedings and SC/ST issue. Talking about the SC/ST issue the court today said that the states don’t have to collect the quantifiable data on ‘backwardness’ for SC/ST quota in job promotions and also they’ll not have reservation quota while being considered for job promotions in govt. service.
