Samsung and Apple were accused of encouraging operating system updates for older phones which slows them down and eventually leading to force users to buy a new phone. Taking action on this, Italy’s competition authority on Wednesday informed that it has fined both the companies with €10 million and €5 million, respectively, as a "planned obsolescence" of their smartphones.
