Much like the batsmen, fielders and umpires, India spinner R Ashwin and pacer Jaydev Unadkat have called for some sort of protective gear for the bowlers as well. The suggestion comes in light of the incident involving Ashok Dinda. The Bengal pacer was struck on the forehead in his bowling follow through against Birendra Vivek Singh’s drilled drive during a friendly match in Kolkata as he tried to take a sharp catch.
