Australia's Queensland is prone to floods and several parts have been declared as disaster zones. The research team has employed European satellites for the first time to monitor the floods from space. They have the ability to see beneath the cloud cover and map the developments on the ground. Conventional satellites get blinded by the cloud cover. Whereas, Radar satellites can fly over the entire state in a few seconds.
