The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said that a deficit of over Rs.200 crore in conducting examinations for classes 10 and 12 had forced the board to hike the fee. The move was highly criticised by all, but the board stated that the measures had to be taken to make the examination leak-proof and error-free evaluation could be conducted. The statement comes after the board came under heavy scrutiny.
