Crop residue burning not only leads to air pollution but also increases health problems. A US-based IFPRI institute found that stubble burning is a leading cause of acute respiratory infection in children below 5yrers & also causes estimated economic losses over $30 billion annually. The study used NASA satellite data on fire activity to estimate the health impact on people living near those crop-burning areas.
