Wrong Man arrested & put behind the bars for 12 days; later apologised: Odisha Police

The Odisha Police arrested a man named Chandan Maharana while executing a non-bailable warrant, took him to court & then put him in jail for 12 days. After enquiry, they realised him to be the wrong person & not at all involved in a criminal case. It was a case of mistaken identity due to the same address. Police Commissioner regretted the trauma, inconvenience they had to face & assured early jail release with dignity & prestige.
