Decline in the deaths of infants in India in 2017, only 8,02,000 died

As per the data released by UNIGME, India reported a drop in the number of deaths of infants in 2017 in the last 5 years. Nearly 8,02,000 infants died in 2017 whereas, in 2016, 8.67 lakh infants died in India. It reported 6,05,000 neonatal deaths in India in 2017 and 1,52,000 deaths between the age of 5-14. The mortality rate in India in 2016 was 44 per 1000. The gender gap is also declining with time, the report showed.
