Ride-hailing platform Uber has been asked to pay $1.1 million to a blind woman passenger over discrimination charges. The Uber drivers reportedly refused rides to the blind passenger on 14 different occasions. While Uber strongly disagreed with the ruling while arguing that it wasn't liable for discrimination by its drivers because they're contractors, the claim was rejected by the independent arbitrator that issued the order.
