Maintenance work is the reason behind majority of train delays

Large-scale repair and maintenance work is the reason 4 out of 10 trains get delayed. During the period of April to December 2017, there was 43% more repair work going on compared to the previous year and wherein 2016 16,092 trains were delayed, 1,09,704 trains were delayed in 2017 during the same period. 5% of these were late due to accidents and 40% were late due to repair works.
