In a bid to boost tourism in the Union territory, the first underwater museum of India is coming off the Puducherry coast. After sailing 30,000 nautical miles in 30 years, INS Cuddalore, a Pondicherry-class vessel that was decommissioned in March, will be turned into a museum and will be deployed in the seabed 7 km off Puducherry at a depth of 26 metres. This vessel will be a gift for scuba diving and snorkelling lovers.
