The Airports Authority of India is working to develop and maintain aviation infrastructure in the north-eastern states of the country. In line with the Airport Authority's ambitions, a domestic dedicated freighter landed at the Lengpui Airport in Aizawl, Mizoram for the first time. The services have been started in the region under the "Krishi-Udan" scheme and are aimed at benefiting the local farmers and villagers.
