BMC's Day 1 of illegal parking penalty: 56 vehicles towed, 9 paid Rs 10 K fine, 47 to pay late fine

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation started imposing hefty fines for illegal parking within a 500-meter radius of 26 authorised public parking lots. The fine range from Rs 5K for 2-wheelers to Rs 15K for heavy vehicles. The total amount may go up to Rs 23,250 in case of late payment penalties. And on the very 1st day, 56 vehicles were towed; of which 9 cars paid Rs 10K fine & the rest 47 will have to pay late payment penalties.
