Airbus will use a new odor detector in airports to screen passengers for dangerous chemicals and it is expected to be operational from later this year. It’s being developed in partnership with Koniku which designs computer chips with integrated biological cells. The new program will have genetically engineered odorant receptors in Airbus planes and airports to identify explosives and other hazardous materials.
