Ultrasonic waves don't make any sound but can still activate Siri. Researchers have shown before that ultrasonic waves could be used to deliver a single command through the air. However, the new research from Washington University extends the scope of vulnerability that ultrasonic waves pose to cellphone security. They found that these waves can travel through solid surfaces to activate voice recognition systems.
