Solar Sail Success! Lightsail 2 spacecraft creates a record by reaching outer Earth orbit

California based the Planetary Society stated that its Lightsail 2 spacecraft, launched on SpaceX rocket, has successfully reached on outer Earth orbit & for the 1st time was able to do controlled solar sailing. The spacecraft roughly the size of a bread loaf was launched into orbit & unfurled a tin foil-like solar sail designed to steer & push the spacecraft, using the momentum of photons from the Sun into a higher orbit.
