A new solution to blindness bypasses damaged eyes and supplies visual information directly to brain allowing people to actually ‘see’. The researchers from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston propose a system in which implanted electrodes are stimulated in a dynamic sequence, which in turn ‘traces’ shapes such as letters on the surface of the visual cortex allowing participants to ‘see’ and identify the shapes.
