China's official media said on Tuesday that the country has launched a maglev train with a peak speed of 600 kilometres per hour. The maglev train "levitates" above the track using electromagnetic force, with no touch between body and rail. Maglev networks are being built in countries ranging from Japan to Germany, however high costs and incompatibility with present infrastructure remain barriers to fast growth.
