Under the Pacific Ocean off New Zealand’s coast, an aquifer has been discovered. According to the scientists, this could be a huge help for the country’s freshwater supply and an answer to the drought issue. The aquifer is located 60km off the east coast of the South Island at a depth of 20 meters. The exact quantity of the water it contains is not yet known but it could be around 2,000 cubic kilometres of water.
