As per a study, nearly 3 lakh sq km natural habitat area, larger in size than the UK, maybe lost as it is forecasted to be converted to city land globally by 2030. The study pointed out that by 2030 an additional 1.2 billion people may live in urban areas globally. They warned that more research is needed to build a complete picture of how cities are impacting nature, especially in tropical rain forest areas.
