Amazon officially joins the race amongst SpaceX, OneWeb, Facebook to create space-based internet services. The company filed its papers with the US govt to seek approval for launching a network of 3,236 satellites in low earth orbit that will provide high-speed internet. It's a long term project that envisions serving millions of people who lack basic internet facility. Kuiper Systems is named after astronomer Gerald Kuiper.
