A Indian-origin scientist-led team develops a camera that doesn't need focusing. The researchers said this could enable thinner smartphone cameras, improved and smaller cameras for biomedical imaging and more compact cameras for automobiles. The technology offers considerable benefits over traditional cameras. Rajesh Menon, team leader, says their flat lenses could drastically reduce the weight, complexity & cost of cameras.
