India leads the world in Internet Shutdown with 67% share

According to Mary Meeker's Internet trends report, out of 3.8 bn internet users, 12% are in India. But India had a whopping 67% share of the total internet shutdowns in the world in 2018. 47% of the internet shutdown has taken place in J&K. According to the data by the Department of Telecommunications, J&K had 5.81 million internet users in 2018. J&K is currently facing its 53rd internet shutdown of 2019.
