ICMR launched a study on side-effects of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine

The ICMR has launched a study on the side effects of hydroxychloroquine based on a few health care workers' data. Some workers with average age 35 years who self-medicated themselves with the anti-malarial drug HCQ and had side effects such as abdominal pain, nausea, hypoglycemia, etc. Abdominal pain was reported in 10%, nausea in 6% and hypoglycemia in 1.3%. AIIMS is also assessing HCQ for both prevention & healing.
