Chinese telecom giant Huawei is receiving backlash in its own country as the public rallied behind a former employee who was detained for 8 months after demanding severance pay from the tech corporation. Last January, Li Hongyuan, a Huawei employee for 13 years, was taken into custody on extortion charges and was detained until August when he had to be released due to unclear criminal facts and insufficient evidence.
