Government planning to conduct audits to inspect Whatsapp security

In a bid to ensure the privacy and data security of citizens after the Pegasus attack that compromised the security of Facebook-owned Whatsapp, the Government is preparing for an audit to inspect the security of the messaging platform. The government has also sent a notice to Israeli technology firm NSO, which created the Pegasus spyware. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the govt has written to Whatsapp for the audit.
