Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG) sent out 12k warnings to users globally including 500 in India between July and Sept this year that they were targeted by government-backed attackers. This disclosure came after Whatsapp stated that Pegasus, Israeli spyware has been used to spy on journalists and human rights activists globally, including 121 in India. Over 90% of the users were targeted through credential phishing emails.
