The global outage of Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, which lasted for over 6 hours, helped the instant messaging app Telegram gain more than 70 million new users. "The daily growth rate of Telegram exceeded the norm by an order of magnitude, and we welcomed over 70 million refugees from other platforms in one day," Telegram founder Pavel Durov wrote. Facebook's internal communication tools were also affected due to the outage.
