Facebook faces a major setback at the EU

The largest social media platform Facebook faced a major setback in the European Union's top court. The court said that the national courts in Europe could now order online platforms to remove defamatory content worldwide. EU law "does not preclude" courts from ordering "the removal of information or to block access worldwide," the statement said. It is being done to tighten the grip over offensive content and hate speech.
