Harvard University researchers have discovered that Earth's tectonic plates had started moving over 3.2 billion years ago which dates back to around 1.3 billion years after the Earth was formed. They studied the ancient rocks from Australia & South Africa & found a latitudinal drift of about 2.5 cms a year that dated back to 3.2 bn years ago. The findings proved that modern-like plate motion occurred between 2-4 bn years ago.
