The Indian government may soon bring in an Aadhaar-based facial recognition software to replace biometric fingerprint or iris scan machines at Covid-19 vaccination centres across the country. The announcement was made by National Health Authority CEO RS Sharma. Sharma cited an ongoing pilot project in Jharkhand, where he claimed the government had been conducting 1,000 authentications through facial recognition on a daily basis.
