According to researchers from the University of Cambridge, there are 3 distinct variants of COVID-19, consisting of clusters of closely related lineages. Scientists have rebuilt the early evolutionary paths of coronavirus as the infection spreads from Wuhan, which shows that mutations have undergone by the novel virus. The study analysed the first 160 complete virus genomes to be sequenced from human patients.
