China unveils first module for its space station

In a major step towards its ambitious aim of taking humans to space, China launched the first module of its new space station. The Tianhe core module was launched from Wenchang in Hainan province on a Long-March 5B rocket. The module has life support equipment and living space for astronauts. Beijing aims to make the space station fully operational by 2022. The space station is likely to be placed in low Earth orbit.
