China to introduce face scans for mobile users

In China, the facial scan is now mandatory when registering new mobile phone services, as authorities will verify identities of China’s internet users. The regulation, after an announcement in September, comes into effect from December 1. The Chinese government says protecting the legitimate rights and interest of citizens in cyberspace are the main agenda. China already has a facial recognition process to survey its population.
