Chandrayaan-2's Vikram hard-landed within 500 meters of target: Govt

The Govt said Chandrayaan-2's Vikram lander hard-landed as the reduction in velocity during its descent was more than the designed parameters. The 1st phase of descent was performed nominally from 30 km to 7.4 km & velocity was reduced from 1683 m/sec to 146 m/sec. The reduction in velocity was more than the designed value during the 2nd phase, which resulted in Vikram's hard-landing within 500 m of the target site.
