Canadian scientists found a new remnant of North Atlantic craton, an ancient part of Earth's continental crust while sifting through diamond exploration samples from Baffin Island. Kimberlites are brought to the surface by geological & chemical forces. When Kopylova began analyzing samples, they bore a mineral sign that matched other parts of N Atlantic craton. Cratons are billion-year-old, stable fragments of continental crust.
